Repairing a rusted frame

After closer examination, the frame seems fairly straight except for the areas that have been weakened by the rust. We will need to line everything up and hold it in place while the rotted parts are replaced. Let's take a closer look at the damage.

How We did it

Most of the damage is right at the location of the "X" in the frame. These individual pieces will need to be replaced. Some can be repaired.

More rust. With one support removed we can see the rot right where it attached. Bill has removed the top plate to access all four sides of the frame.

No strength here. Pieces like this will be replaced We have lined up the sides of the frame and tacked in a piece of straight square stock to hold the frame in place.

This is the bottom of the right rear frame rail. If you look closely just above the orange "O" there is a hump A closer look reveals a crack all the way through the surface just above the bolt hole.
