Removing The Nose

Much of the original damage is out, now we can safely remove the majority of the front sheet metal and begin replacing it.


This is an important step. Replacing the sheetmetal is made much easier if the structure it is welded to is straight and level.

Step 1

Nose cut off Left side Right side
The old nose is cut off just ahead of the convertible reinforcements The left side The right side
Expose spotwelds Separate seam Remove skin
Factory spot welds are exposed and ground off. The factory seam is peeled open and the spotwelds underneath are removed. The skin begins to peel off.
Heat distribution tube Skin gone Skin gone
The heat distribution tube for the windshield defrost is exposed. The panel is removed. More rust is found on the heater channel surface hidden between the inner and outer fender wells.
