We'll keep you up-to-date on the progress of this, our latest restoration.

How We did it

arrival into the shop Dumbo
This is a view of big brother carrying little brother. Into the shop it goes. When it comes back out it will be better than new. This view reminds us a bit of Dumbo the elephant.
Drop gates Right Front corner Treasure Chest
This unique truck has a set of three "drop-gates". All three gates can be dropped down at the same time. The bed measures roughly 4.5 feet by 8.5 feet We see the typical rust in this truck, but the overall structure is excellent. This truck came equipped from the factory with a special option of dual cargo doors. This is known in VW jargon as "dual treasure chests". This adds a lot more storage area to the truck.
Wheel wells are cut Gate latches Rear view
A previous owner decided to cut the rear wheel openings to an arched shape. This is frequently done to accomodate larger wheels and tires. The gates are latched at each corner. A cotter pin can be used to further secure the latch. The rear cover hides the motor. Currently it is a 1600cc dual port motor. We have bigger and better plans for getting this truck down the road.
